For the purpose of this chapter the following words and phrases shall have the following meanings ascribed to them respectively.
OCCUPIED. Shall be construed as though followed by the words “or is intended, arranged, or designed to be occupied.”
TENEMENT HOUSE. A house or building, or portion thereof, which is rented, leased, let, or hired out to be occupied, or is occupied as a home or residence of three or more families living independently of each other, doing their cooking upon the premises, and having a common right to the halls, stairways, yards, water closets, or privies, or some of them.
