One or more alternates may be selected when filling any vacancy. If, within 365 days of selection, the new employee resigns or is terminated, then with the advice of the supervisor and Town Manager, the alternate may be offered the position. If, within 365 days of the initial selection, an identical or similar position within the same department becomes vacant, then that position may be offered to the alternate upon the recommendation of the supervisor and the Town Manager and the approval of the Town Council.
