Use and revision of the town’s Personnel Policy Handbook.
(A) The town’s Personnel Policy Handbook is designed to provide employees with information about working conditions, employee benefits and some of the policies affecting employment. Employees should read, understand and follow all provisions of the Personnel Policy Handbook. These policies describe many employee responsibilities and outline the programs developed by the town to benefit our employees. One of our objectives is to provide a work environment that is conducive to both personal and professional growth.
(B) Nothing in these policies is intended to, in any sense, constitute a contract of employment or an expectation of continued employment. The town is an AT-WILL employer, which means the employee may resign at any time and the town may discharge an employee at any time with or without cause providing it is not an unlawful reason. This Personnel Policy Handbook is not a contract of employment.
(C) No Personnel Policy Handbook can anticipate every circumstance or question about policy. As the town continues to grow, the need may arise to change policies. The town, therefore, reserves the right to revise, supplement or rescind any policies or portion of the Personnel Policy Handbook from time to time as it deems appropriate, at its sole and absolute discretion. Employees will, of course, be notified of such changes as they occur.
(D) Although the town believes the descriptive materials contained in the Personnel Policy Handbook are accurate, such sections regarding insurance and Indiana Public Retirement System (INPRS) are only summaries. Any discrepancies between these summaries and the terms of the actual plans will be governed by the terms of the underlying policies and procedures, if applicable and any discrepancies between them should be directed to the insurance carrier or to the INPRS Office. The employee shall consult the supervisor if changes in the employee’s insurance status would create an increase in the insurance budget line.
