Except as provided in ECC Title 7, Chapter 2, every person convicted of a violation of this code or of committing an act which is prohibited or made or declared unlawful, or made or declared an offense by this code, or any city ordinance, shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail or city jail, or in such other place as may be provided by the city for the incarceration of offenders, for not more than six (6) months, or by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), or by both fine and imprisonment, unless this code or ordinance violated at the time of commission of such offense prescribes a different specific fine or penalty.
