(A) Chapter 271 of the Nevada Revised Statutes allows for the creation of local improvement districts. A local improvement district allows groups of residents in defined geographical areas to obtain financing for needed local projects and improvements without creating a disproportionate impact on scarce County monies available for County-wide capital projects and improvements. The formation of a local improvement district allows those property owners and residents primarily benefited by the project and improvements to contribute and participate in the funding responsibility, while ensuring that a quality project will result from the residents' contributions.
(B) A local improvement district may be formed to complete the following types of projects, as well as any others that may from time to time be authorized by the State Legislature:
1. Curb and gutter projects
2. Drainage projects
3. Electrical projects
4. Off-street parking projects
5. Overpass projects
6. Park projects
7. Sanitary sewer projects
8. Security wall projects
9. Sidewalk projects
10. Storm sewer projects
11. Street projects
12. Transportation projects
13. Water projects
14. Any combination of the above projects. (Ord. 1995-J, 8-3-1995)
