The compensation of the Public Defender and all deputy public defenders will be fixed by the Board of Commissioners. Neither the Public Defender, nor any deputy, may engage in the private practice of law, either civil or criminal, from the date of appointment, except as allowed under their collective bargaining agreement or at the discretion of the County Manager.
