(A) The Firefighter’s Civil Service Commission, existing immediately prior to the effective date of this code, is hereby continued in full force and effect; and all the pertinent provisions of W.Va. Code §§ 8-15-11 through 8-15-27, inclusive, are hereby adopted by the Council and made applicable to the regular members of the Fire Department who are paid on a full-time basis from city funds and to applicants for such regular membership.
(B) Pursuant to the authority granted to the city under the Municipal Home Rule Pilot Program, under W.Va. Code § 8-1-5a, the city hereby declares itself to be exempt from the requirement that no more than two of the members of its Fire Civil Service Commission be members of the same political party as required by W.Va. Code § 8-15-12.
(C) Pursuant to the authority granted to the city under the Municipal Home Rule Program, authorized by W.Va. Code § 8-1-5a, the Firemen’s Civil Service Commission may accept applications for entry-level civil service fire positions, regardless of veteran status or previous or current paid fire service, for applicants, who are at the time of their application, no more than 40 years old.
