§ 93.026 INSPECTION OF BUILDINGS AND PREMISES.
   (A)   It shall be the duty of the Fire Chief to inspect, or cause to be inspected, according to the schedule provided in the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code, all buildings and premises except the interiors of one- and two-family dwellings, for the purpose of ascertaining and causing to be corrected any conditions liable to cause fire or to endanger life from fire, and enforcing the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code, or any violations of the provisions or intent of this chapter creating a hazard. The Fire Chief or their designee shall charge inspection fees for inspections of buildings and premises according to the fee schedule adopted by the town, except when those premises are occupied or owned by state or local government.
   (B)   Installation or modification of building systems without required plan review and approval by the fire chief or their designee shall result in a violation fine as outlined by the fee schedule adopted by the town. Required inspections for the building systems will not be conducted until the fee is paid.
