It is the purpose of this chapter to prescribe regulations consistent with the most current edition of the State Building Code, Fire Prevention (also known as the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code) and the Appendices (A) through (H) of the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code and nationally recognized good practices for the safeguarding of life and property from hazards of fire and explosions arising from the storage, handling, and use of flammable, combustible, and hazardous substances, materials, and devices, and from conditions hazards to life and property in the use or occupancy of buildings or premises.
