§ 157.125 INTERPRETATIONS.
   (A)   From this subchapter. For the purposes of these regulations, certain numbers, abbreviations, terms, words and phrases used herein shall be used, interpreted and defined as set forth in this subchapter.
   (B)   State laws. Whenever any words and phrases used herein are not defined herein but are defined in the state laws regulating the creation and function of various planning agencies, that definition shall be deemed to apply to those words and phrases used herein, except when the context otherwise requires.
   (C)   Common interpretations. For the purpose of these regulations, certain words or terms used herein shall be interpreted as follows.
      (1)   Person. The word PERSON includes a firm, association, organization, partnership, trust, company or corporation or other legal entity as well as an individual.
      (2)   Present tense, singular and plural. The present tense includes the future tense, the singular number includes the plural, and the plural number includes the singular.
      (3)   Mandatory, permissive and preferred. The word SHALL or MUST is a mandatory requirement, the word MAY is a permissive requirement and the word SHOULD is a preferred requirement.
      (4)   Used or occupied. The words USED or OCCUPIED include the words INTENDED, DESIGNED, CONSTRUCTED, CONVERTED, ALTERED OR ARRANGED TO BE USED or OCCUPIED.
   (D)   Dictionary. Any word or term not defined herein shall be given a meaning found in a recent edition of a Standard English dictionary.
