The county hereby elects to refer all formal complaints of alleged fair housing violations under the Federal Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended; the Federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended; the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988; and I.C. 22-9.5-1, as amended; by complainants to the State Civil Rights Commission for administrative enforcement actions pursuant to the applicable federal law and I.C. 22-9.5-6. The President of the Board of Commissioners of the county shall refer all formal complaints to the State Civil Rights Commission for purposes of investigation, resolution and appropriate relief as is provided for under applicable state and federal law.
