The Uniform Fire Code is amended to read as follows:
(A) The provision of this Code shall apply equally to new and existing conditions, except that existing conditions not in strict compliance with the terms of this Code shall be permitted to continue where the exceptions do not constitute a hazard to life or property in the opinion of the state’s Fire Marshal’s representative and the Chief of the Bureau of Fire Prevention.
(B) The state’s Fire Marshal’s representative and the Chief of the Bureau of Fire Prevention shall act as a forum to determine whether any Uniform Fire Code, Life Safety Code or Uniform Building Code violations of any owner or lessee are life-threatening to the general public, and if they determine so, will post the structure of the owner or lessee with a proper sign to the public. This sign shall read “WARNING TO PUBLIC. This structure is in violation of Uniform Fire Standards and represents a life-threatening code violation; removal of this sign will constitute a criminal act.” The sign shall be posted immediately following the determination by the Bureau of Fire Prevention.
