There is hereby established a Fire Investigation Team within the city’s Fire Department. The Team shall operate and exist under the direct supervision and control of the Chief of the Fire Department, who shall appoint those members of the Fire Department as investigators on the Team as he or she deems appropriate. The Team shall enforce all national, state and city fire codes applicable within the city, shall investigate and gather information and evidence for the prosecution of persons who violate the fire codes and shall investigate fires of suspicious origin. The Team shall consist of at least 1 fire officer and at least 1 police officer of the city.
