§ 74.04 PREFERENTIAL AND NONDESIGNATED STREETS.
   (A)   Streets or portions of streets not designated in Ch. 78, Schedule II(A) as truck routes, and streets or portions of streets not designated in Ch. 78 Schedule II(B) as restrictive streets are hereby defined as nondesignated streets.
   (B)   A person, firm or corporation shall not operate or cause to be operated any truck or freight- carrying vehicle with a gross weight in excess of ten tons on any street or highway under the jurisdiction of the city except on a truck route; as provided in divisions (C) and (D) below; or when providing local services within the city including, but not limited to pickup and delivery, emergency, maintenance, utility and protective services, between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time.
   (C)   Any such vehicle having an origin, destination or a series of 2 or more destinations on a truck route, restrictive street or on nondesignated street or streets may use nondesignated streets to the extent reasonably necessary to minimize total distance traveled, provided the route traveled between the points is reasonably direct.
   (D)   Any vehicle having an origin or a destination on a restrictive street shall enter and leave the street at the closest intersection to the destination, and shall traverse the restrictive street the shortest possible distance.
   (E)   The Traffic Engineer of the city is empowered to post restrictive streets and truck routes by appropriate signs.
   (F)   The Police Department of the city is authorized and directed to enforce the provisions of this section.
