No person shall erect or cause to be erected a permanent or temporary awning or marquee over any street of the city. Such will be permitted over sidewalks upon the issuance of a permit therefor from the Building Inspector; provided, no temporary awning shall be erected lower than seven feet above a sidewalk and no permanent awning or marquee shall be erected lower than nine feet above the sidewalk; provided further, such awning or marquee shall not be erected in violation of any other part of this code.
