§ 30.07  CHIEF OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
   The Chief of Police shall be the head of the Police Department. He or she shall preserve the public peace, prevent crimes, detect and arrest offenders, suppress civil disturbances and other unlawful gatherings, protect the right of persons and property in the city, preserve order generally, regulate traffic, enforce and carry out the ordinances and laws of the city, state and nation, serve as the city’s Harbor Master, and perform such other and further duties as the City Council may from time to time impose upon him or her by ordinance.
