For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
BLOCK. The portion of a street lying between the points of intersection of two other streets with such street.
PARADE. Any parade, march, ceremony, show, exhibition, pageant or procession of any kind including a picket line and any organized event at which a number of races or other sporting contests are held, including footraces, walk-a-thons and/or cycling competitions, conducted in or upon any street, park or other public place in the city.
PICKET. A person engaged in picketing.
PICKET LINE. A group of persons engaged in picketing as well as the space physically occupied by such pickets.
PICKETING. The individual action or the action in concert of more than one person, to attempt to influence or persuade others to engage in, or refrain from engaging in, a course of conduct or an activity, by singularly or in concert with others, sitting, standing, walking, running, lying, patrolling or otherwise maneuvering or acting in the vicinity of or in or on a place of business, or in or on private property or in or on any street, sidewalk or other public way or place, and orally, by banner, placard, preannounced purpose, singing, demonstrating or otherwise attempting to carry out the influencing or persuasion aforesaid or to do or act as aforesaid without regard to whether or not there is an attempt to influence or persuade others and shall also be defined as any conduct or course of action that by its nature of common acceptance shall amount to PICKETING in its naturally or commonly accepted meaning or as determined to constitute picketing by the courts of the several states and of the United States where it is necessary to distinguish between persons engaged in parading and persons engaged in picketing, PICKETING shall mean a procession which covers the same route more than once or which does not cover a specified route.
POLICE. Any law enforcement officer of the city, county, state or of the United States of America.
SIDEWALK. The portion of the street, public easement or thoroughfare lying between the portion thereof used primarily for vehicular traffic and the property line abutting such street, public easement or thoroughfare.
