(A) Any person violating the provisions of this chapter shall be permitted to voluntarily pay a penalty of $5, or a penalty to be set from time to time by the City Council within ten days of the date of the offense for the violation of this chapter and, upon payment thereof, shall not be taken with warrant and placed upon trial for the violation of the chapter. A fine, as authorized by G.S. § 20-37.6, shall be paid for illegally parking in a space reserved for the handicapped. All moneys so received, when warrant is not issued and trial of the accused is not had, shall be paid into the General Fund of the city.

(B) For a first offense of § 72.15 of this chapter, the fine shall be $10; for a second offense within 30 days of a first offense, the fine shall be $20; for a third offense within 30 days of a first offense, the fine shall be $40.
