The duties of the crossing guard shall include assisting school children across streets designated by the Chief of Police, the direction of traffic when necessary to assist in street crossing and other relevant duties as the Chief of Police may direct. The Chief of Police shall have authority to assign each crossing guard to duty at such times and place as he or she may deem necessary for the protection of children proceeding to and from school.
