(a) No person shall operate any motor vehicle, except when necessary for safe operation, or in compliance with law, in such a manner that the vehicle gears are shifted which result in the exhaust system emitting a loud, cracking or chattering noise unusual to its normal operation.
(b) Whoever violates or fails to comply with any provision of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. A separate offense shall be deemed committed upon each and every incident during which a violation occurs or continues.
