The tenant in any dwelling unit, apartment house, lodging house or mobile home rental shall be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of smoke detectors. Tenants shall immediately notify the owner, manager or agent when a smoke detector is defective or in need of a replacement. The notification shall be in writing and dated, and shall be delivered to the owner, manager or agent either in person or by First Class Mail.
