The members of the Police Department shall be employees of the city within the meaning of KRS Chapter 83A rather than nonelected city officials within the meaning of that chapter; but are authorized by KRS 95.740 to execute warrants, processes, subpoenas, and attachments and make arrests and therefore, are peace officers within the meaning of KRS 446.101 (24), KRS 431.005, and any other state statute in which that term is used. The Police Department is authorized and directed to enforce the laws of the United States, the State, Kenton County, and the city. (Ord. 1982-4, passed 3-11-82)
