§ 32.10  INITIAL AND YEARLY PHYSICAL EXAM.
   (A)   The City Council may require that each candidate, before he or she may become a member, must undergo a thorough physical examination by a licensed doctor of medicine and submit such doctor’s written report thereof with his or her application for membership on the Fire Department. In addition to the initial physical examination, all Fire Department members 55 years of age or older may be required to undergo a thorough physical examination by a licensed doctor of medicine each year. This physical examination would be at the request of the City Council or the Chief.
   (B)   The doctor’s written report shall be filed with the City Clerk/Treasurer and the Chief within 30 days of the request for such physical examination. Such report shall contain a statement whether or not, in such doctor’s opinion, there is any evidence of myocarditis, coronary sclerosis, or pneumonia or its equal in the candidate at the time of the examination. Such report shall be retained and permanently kept in the files of the Fire Department and the city. Failure to file such report upon request would be deemed sufficient cause for removal. The city will pay the usual and customary sum for the expense of the examination in the absence of medical insurance being available to cover the cost of the examination.
