§ 10-8.4 DISABILITY.
An employee who cannot perform the required duties because of a physical or mental impairment may be separated for disability. Action may be initiated by the employee or the city. In all cases, such action must be accompanied by medical evidence acceptable to the City Manager. The city may require an examination, at the city’s expense, performed by a physician of the city’s choice. If the disability is a qualified disability covered by the Americans with Disability Act (ADA), and the employee cannot perform the essential functions of their regular position, every effort will be made by the city to provide reasonable accommodations or to place the employee in an alternate position, if available for which the employee is qualified and can perform the essential job functions.
