When school signals are in operation if a yellow lens is illuminated by rapid intermittent flashes, drivers of vehicles shall pass such signals with extra caution; if a red lens is illuminated by a steady light, drivers shall stop short of the crosswalk and remain stopped as long as the red signal is shown.
