8-2-18: TRAFFIC CONTROL AND PUBLIC SAFETY:
   (A)   Traffic control shall be in accordance with the applicable sections of the Illinois Department of Transportation Standard for Road and Bridge Construction, latest edition, and the applicable guidelines contained in the Illinois Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, latest edition.
   (B)   The permit holder shall insure that the work is performed with minimal inconvenience and safety hazard to the public. The permit holder shall provide, erect, and maintain all barricades and signs necessary to protect the work and the public.
   (C)   No street or alley may be closed or partially closed without the permission of the Director of Engineering Services. Once permission is granted, the contractor must notify the Police, Fire, and Engineering Department twenty four (24) hours in advance of commencing the work. The contractor must also notify those Departments when the work is completed and the street or alley is reopened.
   (D)   Fire hydrants, gutters, and storm inlets adjacent to the work may not be obstructed without the permission of the Director of Engineering Services. (Ord. 95-11, 4-3-1995)
