It shall be the duty of every person owning, keeping or harboring any dog or cat in the city to obtain a current rabies shot for each dog or cat owned, and within thirty (30) days after doing so, to register each dog or cat owned with the Rock Island County animal control office, Rock Island County Building, 1504 3rd Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois.
(A) The license tag shall be attached to a substantial collar or harness which shall be kept on the dog or cat at all times during the term for which the license is issued.
(B) Any person or persons walking their dog(s) or cat(s) on any public or private place, street, alley or sidewalk must be able to produce a Rock Island County license tag which is securely attached to the collar or harness of such pet. Failure to produce said Rock Island County license tag will be in violation of this section and a citation will be issued. (Ord. 04-15, 5-3-2004)
