6-3-55: POSSESSION OF WEAPONS AND AMMUNITION 1 :
   (A)   It shall be unlawful to sell, manufacture, purchase, possess or carry any bludgeon, blackjack, slingshot, sandclub, sandbag, metal knuckles or other knuckle weapon regardless of its composition, throwing star, or any knife, commonly referred to as a switchblade knife, which has a blade that opens automatically by hand pressure applied to a button, spring or other device in the handle of the knife, or a ballistic knife, which is a device that propels a knifelike blade as a projectile by means of a coil spring, elastic material or compressed gas.
   (B)   It shall be unlawful to carry or possess with intent to use the same unlawfully against another, a dagger, dirk, billy club, dangerous knife, razor, stiletto, broken bottle or other piece of glass, stun gun or taser or any other dangerous or deadly weapon or instrument of like character.
   (C)   It shall be unlawful to carry or possess any pistol, revolver, stun gun, taser or other firearm unless that person possesses a currently valid firearm owner's identification card, unless said weapon is broken down in a nonfunctioning state.
   (D)   Subsections (A), (B), and (C) of this section shall not apply to law enforcement officers or security officers of a school, college or university or to students carrying or possessing firearms for use in training courses, parades, hunting, target shooting on school ranges, or otherwise with the consent of school authorities and which firearms are transported unloaded enclosed in a suitable case, box or transportation package.
   (E)   No person may acquire or possess any firearm, stun gun, or taser within the city limits without having in his or her possession a firearm owner's identification card previously issued in his or her name by the department of state police under the provisions set forth in 430 Illinois Compiled Statutes 65.
   (F)   No person may acquire or possess firearm ammunition within the city limits without having in his or her possession a firearm owner's identification card previously issued in his or her name by the department of state police under the provisions set forth in 430 Illinois Compiled Statutes 65.
   (G)   Subsections (E) and (F) of this section shall not apply to law enforcement officers, members of the military acting in official duties, members of the military acting in ceremonial duties with blank ammunition, nonresident hunters with nonresident hunting licenses where hunting is permitted, or nonresidents whose firearms are unloaded and in an enclosed case.
   (H)   Hunting will be allowed on individual parcels larger than sixty (60) acres that are zoned Agricultural. All hunters must follow Illinois Department of Natural Resources Rules and Regulations for deer, small game, and upland hunting on qualified parcels. (Ord. 09-13, 7-6-2009; amd.
