§ 58.003 PURPOSE AND INTENT.
   (A)   Purpose. In the interest of securing the public health, safety, and welfare, to preserve the quality and quantity of groundwater resources in order to assure a safe and adequate water supply for the present and future generations, and to preserve groundwater resources currently in use and those aquifers having a potential for future use as a public water supply, the provisions of this chapter shall apply to all properties located within the village. This chapter establishes regulations for land uses within the groundwater protection areas for: inspection and monitoring standards for new and existing regulated substance facilities; uniform standards for release reporting; emergency response; substance management planning; permit procedures; and enforcement.
   (B)   Intent. It is the intent of this chapter to provide a method:
      (1)   To protect the groundwater resources of the village and the surrounding area.
      (2)   To provide a means of regulating land uses within the groundwater protection areas.
      (3)   To protect the village’s drinking water supply and that of the surrounding area from potential impacts by facilities that store, handle, treat, use, or produce substances that pose a hazard to groundwater quality.
