The initial backfilling of the main to a minimum of six inches over the pipe shall be with approved fine material free of rocks or clods larger than two inches in diameter. This backfill material should be free of cinders, ashes, refuse, vegetable or organic material, boulders or other material not suitable as determined by the Village Engineer. The backfill shall be tamped into place to provide a firm support all along the pipe.
(E) Dewatering of trench. Where water is encountered in the trench, it shall be removed during pipe laying and jointing operations. Provisions shall be made to prevent floating of the pipe. Trench water shall not be allowed to enter the pipe at any time.
