A. It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle to use or operate or to cause to be used or operated within the city, any engine brake, compression brake or mechanical exhaust device designed to aid in the braking or deceleration of any vehicle that results in excessive, loud, unusual or explosive noise from such brake or device.
B. Exception: Only in case of emergency.
C. Any person who violates any of the provisions of this chapter shall be subject to penalty as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code. Each violation of this chapter shall constitute a separate offense.
D. The city shall provide notice of the prohibition created by this section by posting clearly visible signs on all truck routes at or near the entrances to the city, utilizing city signs off of state right of way or on state right of way with Illinois department of transportation authority.
