§ 175.01  SETTLEMENT AUTHORIZED.
   The Director of Law and the Mayor shall have the power and are hereby authorized to adjust, settle, compromise or submit to arbitration any actions, causes of action, suits, damages, accounts, debts, claims, demands, disputes and matters in favor of or against the city or in which the city is concerned as debtor or creditor, now existing or which may hereafter arise, except in instances where the action, cause of action, suit, damage, account, debt, claim, demand or dispute exceeds $500. Nothing herein shall be construed as requiring the Director of Law, the Director of Finance, the Mayor or Council to act upon claims where the entire cost is paid by an insurance company. The Mayor shall have the power and is hereby authorized to adjust and settle claims of the city for damage to city property wherein the amount of the claim regularly reported and invoiced by the Finance Director does not equal or exceed $2,500.
