The Building Department shall be under the direction of the Building Commissioner and shall be responsible for enforcement of the building, housing standards, and property maintenance codes of the city. The Department shall license contractors, review plans, issue building permits, and inspect the construction of buildings and other structures within the city. The Department shall take other actions and have powers as are necessary to enforce the codes. The Department shall have additional duties, responsibilities, and powers as assigned by state statute or city ordinance.
