§ 90.083 POSITIVE RABIES DIAGNOSIS; CITYWIDE QUARANTINE.
   (A)   (1)   When one or both reports of the State Department and the Board of Health, as provided in this chapter, give a positive diagnosis of rabies, the Board of Health shall recommend a city-wide quarantine for a period of 30 days.
      (2)   Upon the invoking of a quarantine, no animals shall be taken into the streets or permitted to be in the streets during the period of quarantine.
   (B)   During a period of rabies quarantine as herein mentioned, every animal bitten by an animal adjudged to be rabid shall be forthwith destroyed or, at the owner’s option and expense, shall be treated for rabies infection by a licensed veterinarian or held under 30 days quarantine by the owner in the same manner as other animals are quarantined.
   (C)   In the event there are additional positive cases of rabies occurring during the period of the quarantine, the period of quarantine may be extended for an additional six months.
