For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
MOTOR TRUCK. Any motor-propelled vehicle designed for carrying freight or merchandise. It shall not include any self-propelled vehicles designed primarily for passenger transportation, but equipped with frames, racks, or bodies having a load capacity not exceeding 1,000 pounds.
SEMI-TRAILER. A vehicle designed to be attached to, and having its front end supported by, a motor truck or truck tractor, and intended for the carrying of freight or merchandise and with a load capacity of over 1,000 pounds.
STREETS AND PASSWAYS. Any public road, street, avenue, alley or boulevard, bridge, viaduct, or trestle, and the approaches thereto, within the limits of the city.
TRAILER. Any vehicle designed to be drawn by a motor truck or truck tractor, but supported wholly upon its own wheels, and intended for the carriage of freight or merchandise and with a load capacity of over 1,000 pounds.
TRUCK TRACTOR. Any motor-propelled vehicle designed to draw and to support the front end of a semi-trailer. The semi-trailer and the TRUCK TRACTOR shall be considered to be one unit.
