1-6-2: TERMS OF OFFICE, REMOVAL:
All appointive officers, department supervisors, and all employees covered in subsection 1-6-1(D) shall hold office for the term for which they were appointed and qualified if a term is enumerated; provided, that any appointive officer or department supervisor may at any time be removed by the action of the Mayor for any reason deemed sufficient, but such removal shall be by and with the affirmative vote of one-half (1/2) plus one (1) of the members of the Council holding office, or if there is a vacancy in the Council, by a majority of those Council Members holding office; provided that the Council, by unanimous vote of all of its members may, upon their own initiative, remove any appointive officer or department supervisor. If an appointive officer or department supervisor has entered into an employment or similar professional services agreement with the City that sets forth the method of termination of said agreement, said agreement shall be followed in lieu of this section. Nothing in this section waives any benefits or obligations an appointive officer, department supervisor, or the City may have in the Personnel Policy Manual except to define the method of termination.
