Sec. 4-92 Rates or Fares to be Charged and Regulations Governing Operations.
   (a)   The charge for call must be metered, and is fifty cents ($.50) for the first three-fifths (3/5) mile, and ten cents ($.10) for each additional one-fifth (1/5) mile.
   (b)   The rate for the pick up and delivery of all packages without passengers anywhere within the Town is one dollar ($1.00) plus taximeter fare from package pick up point to delivery point. (Ord. No. 769, § 9 [a], [b], 10-13-70)
   (c)   The charge for calls from places within Dyer to places outside the limits of Dyer must be metered and is fifty cents ($.50) for the first three-fifths (3/5) mile and ten cents ($.10) for each additional one-fifth (1/5) mile. (Ord. No. 656, § 9 [c], 5-9-67)
   (d)   In all cases with more than one (1) passenger an additional charge of ten cents ($.10) for each passenger applies.
   (e)   In the event passengers within the Town want the taxicab to wait, waiting time includes the time when the taxicab is not in motion beginning with arrival at the place to which it has been called or time consumed while standing or waiting at the direction of the passenger; waiting time is charged at the rate of ten cents ($.10) for each two (2) minutes or fraction of that time, except that waiting time may not exceed the rate of three dollars ($3.00) per hour unless the waiting time exceeds one (1) hour, in which case an additional charge of two dollars ($2.00) per hour applies.
   (f)   Any passenger upon demand and upon the payment of the fare is entitled to a receipt for fare and the receipt shall show the name of the owner of the taxicab, the items which were paid, and the date of payment.
   (g)   Every driver of a taxicab has the right to demand payment in advance of the legal fare for all hauls outside of the corporate limits of the Town of Dyer and may refuse to transport or carry any person so refusing to pay such fare in advance.
   (h)   No driver of a licensed taxicab may carry any person other than the passenger or group of passengers first employing such taxicab without the consent of the person or persons first employing it.
   (i)   All disputes as to fares are initially determined by the ranking officer at the police station nearest to the place where the dispute arose.
   (j)   No driver of a taxicab may charge or attempt to charge any passenger a higher rate of fare than that to which he is entitled under the provisions of this ordinance.
   (k)   No person owning, operating, or driving a taxicab may operate or drive the cab on a distance tariff or use or advertise in connection with it the words “taxicab,” “taxi” or “cab” or in soliciting trade from the public or to represent himself as the driver, operator or owner of a taxicab unless it is equipped with a taximeter complying with this Division.
   (l)   No person owning, operating, or driving a taxicab may operate or drive the cab unless the fare is determined by a standard-type taximeter and no fare is charged to the passenger other than as recorded on the face of the taximeter for the trip.
   (m)   No passenger or other person may occupy the front seat beside the driver unless the rear seat is occupied by two (2) or more persons.
