It shall be the duty of the Animal Control Officer upon receipt of a verified complaint as outlined in § 96.026 of this subchapter to cause the animal involved to be impounded pending a determination as required by this chapter. Any and all expenses associated with the impounding, including shelter, food, handling, and veterinary care, shall be borne by the owner of such animal during the period of impoundment.
