§ 32.002 ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS.
   (A)   Each member of all boards created by ordinance within the city, whether such boards have authority to promulgate policy or are advisory only, shall be subject to the following attendance policy.
      (1)   For boards that meet monthly, whenever a member of the board is absent:
         (a)   From more than one-half of all meetings of the board, regular and special, held within any period of four consecutive months; or
         (b)   From one-half or more of all meetings held within any 12-month period, the member shall thereupon forfeit the board membership.
      (2)   For boards that meet quarterly, whenever a member of the board is absent from half or more of all meetings held within any 12-month period, the member shall thereupon forfeit the board membership office.
      (3)   For boards without a prescribed schedule or those that meet at the call of the chair as needed, whenever a member of the board is absent from half or more of all meetings held within any 12-month period, the member shall thereupon forfeit the board membership.
   (B)   Any member who misses the number of meetings set forth in this section shall forfeit the board membership as a matter of law. No action shall be required by the board, city staff, or the City Council to accomplish the member’s removal. Upon the vacancy of a board position created by a forfeiture pursuant to this section, the forfeiting member shall be notified by mail by the City Clerk. Unless otherwise provided by ordinance or statute, the vacancy shall be filled by nomination of a successor member to fill the remaining term of the forfeiting member and approved by the City Council.
