17-501: DEFINITIONS:
For the purpose of this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them:
ASHES: The residue from substance used for fuel in connection with the ordinary conduct of heating and cooking, and also such refuse as broken crockery, glass, metal other than tin cans, and other similar items which may not be suitable for burning in the incinerator but which may be dumped with ashes.
GARBAGE: Kitchen and table refuse, offal, and every accumulation of animal and vegetable matter which attends the preparation, decay of, dealing in, or storage of, meats, fruits, vegetables and other provisions for human subsistence.
SEWAGE: Water, human excrement and liquid refuse that should properly be disposed of through the sanitary sewers of the city, but shall not include rainwater, soil drainage or other drainage.
TRASH: Paper, rags, containers of paper, wood or tin, tin cans, yard and house sweeping, and all other household wastes except tree trimming, building and manufacturing wastes, "sewage", "garbage" and "ashes" as herein defined, grasses, weeds, leaves and rocks. (Prior code § 9-1)
