15-602: TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES; UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:
   A.   Conformity: All traffic control signs, signals, and devices shall conform to the "Manual On Uniform Traffic Control Devices" approved by the state department of public safety.
   B.   Uniformity: All signs, signals, and devices required hereunder for a particular purpose shall so far as practicable be uniform as to type and relative location throughout the city. All traffic control devices erected and not inconsistent with the provisions of state law or this chapter shall be official traffic control devices. (Prior code ch. 20)
   C.   Exceptions: An exception may be made to the uniform requirements for street name signs to allow for flexibility of design contingent upon the following:
      1.   Exceptions shall be granted only for a street name sign(s) and/or the pole(s) or post(s) on which the street name sign(s) is mounted or affixed;
      2.   All street name signs and poles or posts on which street name signs are mounted or affixed shall comply with state law, the "Manual On Uniform Traffic Control Devices" (MUTCD), current edition in effect at the time of placement of the street name signs and poles or posts on which street name signs are mounted or affixed, and American Association Of State Highway And Transportation Official (AASHTO) standards;
      3.   The design and implementation of special street name signs and the poles or posts on which the special street name signs are mounted or affixed shall be consistent throughout the subdivision or addition in which the special street name signs are placed;
      4.   Special street name signs and/or the poles or posts on which the special street name signs are mounted or affixed may be installed only at the time of development of an addition to the city of Duncan;
      5.   The person or persons proposing to install special street name signs and/or the poles or posts on which the special street name signs are mounted or affixed shall submit a written application, including design details, to the city engineer for the city of Duncan for consideration and shall receive approval of same prior to installation. The city of Duncan shall have the sole right to determine the acceptability of the design of said special street name signs and/or the poles or posts on which the special street name signs are mounted or affixed; and
      6.   If damaged or missing special street name signs and/or poles or posts to which the special street name signs are mounted or affixed are not replaced by the developer or neighborhood residents within thirty (30) days of report of same being received by the city of Duncan, the city of Duncan may replace said special street name signs and/or poles or posts to which the special street name signs are mounted or affixed with standard street signs, poles or posts.
