7-4-2: HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION:
A historic preservation commission is established with the following provisions:
   A.   Membership: There shall be five (5) members with a demonstrated interest, competence, or knowledge in historic preservation. Such members shall serve for a term of two (2) years, and shall serve until their successors are selected, appointed, and qualified. The initial membership of the commission shall consist of two (2) members appointed for a term which shall expire on July 1, 1987, and three (3) members appointed for a term which shall end on July 1, 1988. Thereafter, the terms of all commissioners shall be for a period of two (2) years. All commission members shall be selected and appointed by a majority vote of the county commissioners who may receive nominations for membership on the commission from interested parties and organizations throughout the community.
   B.   Officers: At the first meeting each year, the commissioners shall elect one of their members to serve as chairperson and one to serve as secretary, for the next year.
   C.   Professionals: To the extent available in the community, two (2) commission members shall be professionals, as defined by national park service regulations, from the disciplines of history and architecture or architectural history.
   D.   Meetings: The commission will meet at least twice each year and conduct business in accordance with the open public meeting laws of the state. This includes public notification of meeting place, time and agenda items.
   E.   Minutes: Written minutes of each commission meeting will be prepared and made available for public inspection.
   F.   Reimbursement For Expenses: Commission members shall be reimbursed for actual expenses incurred in conducting commission business, as approved by a majority of the commission. (1998 Code § 15.20.020)
