§ 31.09 GIFTS AND GRATUITIES.
   (A)   Employees are encouraged to maintain good relations with suppliers and others with whom the county conducts business. However, the practice of accepting gifts and/or gratuities may be contrary to the public interest. Employees shall not accept unreasonable gifts or gratuities from firms, organizations, agents, or other individuals who furnish, or propose to furnish, materials, goods, or services to the county.
   (B)   To comply with federal and state regulations, the Board of Commissioners hereby establishes a definition of UNREASONABLE, as used in division (A) above, for all county officials and employees. Wherein county officials and employees are bound by the duties of their office or employment to avoid any and all conflicts of interest, the dollar threshold of $200 for any single event, meeting, or function, and $500 per vendor, per annum, is hereby established as UNREASONABLE, below which any financial interest or value of any gratuity is not considered UNREASONABLE.
