(A) It shall be the rule and custom of the county to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff upon the death of currently serving, or retired, full-time, elected county officials as a mark of respect to their memory. The flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff upon receipt of knowledge of a qualifying event until internment, but never longer than three days.
(B) All actions regarding the United States flag shall be accomplished with respect for the flag, and as a mark of respect to the lives and deaths of principal figures to the county government.
(C) The County Board of Commissioners shall have the flexibility to fly flags on county property at half-staff during other periods of mourning at its sole discretion.
(D) The county shall follow, and adhere to, the 4 U.S.C. Ch. 1, in all other questions of flag use, respect, and etiquette.
