(a) The non-emergency use of engine brakes within the municipality is prohibited.
(b) As used in this section, engine brakes shall be defined to include, but not limited to, Jake Brakes, C Brakes, Pac Brakes, Tek Brakes, and any other engine retarders commonly used within the trucking industry.
(c) Signs shall be posted to prohibit engine brakes at the entrance point of the municipality and at all other appropriate locations, advising motor vehicle operators of the prohibition of the use of engine brakes retarders.
(d) This section does not apply to emergency vehicles operated by fire, police, or military units.
(e) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.
