1311.05 PLUMBING REGISTRATION APPLICATION; FEE; BOND.
(a) Application; Plumbing Contractor. Application for a plumbing contractor's registration shall be filled out and signed by the applicant on forms prescribed by the Director of Public Service or Building and zoning codes administrator and shall contain such information as required for the purpose of fulfilling the objects and purposes of this chapter.
(b) Application; Partnership or Corporation. Application for a registration by a partnership shall be signed by a partner and that of a corporation by an officer of such corporation. Application forms shall be prescribed by the Director of Public Service.
(c) (EDITOR'S NOTE: Former subsection (c) hereof was repealed by Ordinance 14-10.)
(d) Registration Fee. Registrations shall be issued annually and shall be renewed on or before January 15 of each year.
(1) Applicant. Before a registration is issued, the applicant shall pay the City an annual fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) per year for a Type No. 1 Registration or thirty-five dollars ($35.00) per year for a Type No. 2 Registration. Registrations issued after April 1 of each year, shall require a fee of three-fourths the annual fee; after July 1 of each year, one-half the annual fee, and after October 1 of each year, one-fourth the annual fee.
(2) Renewal. A registration may be renewed each year upon the payment of an annual fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) for Type No. 1 Registration and an annual fee of thirty-five dollars ($35.00) for Type No. 2 Registration, payable on or before January 15 of each year.
(e) Journeyman Plumber's Registration.
(1) Application. An application for journeyman plumber's registration shall be filled out by the applicant on forms prescribed by the Building and Zoning Codes Administrator, shall contain such information as may be required by the rules and regulations of such Department and shall be accompanied by a fee of ten dollars ($10.00) to cover the cost of the registration.
(2) Renewal. Registration may be renewed each year upon the payment of the annual fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00), payable on or before January 15 of each year.
(f) Registered Plumbing Contractor. Any person, firm or corporation holding a registration as a plumbing contractor at the time this section is enacted will not be required to apply for a new registration, providing that the firm or person registers with the Director of Public Service within ninety days after its enactment.
(g) Improper Use of Registration. No person who has obtained a plumbing contractor's registration shall permit his name to be used by another person, either for the purpose of obtaining certificates or for doing business or work under the registration. Every registered person shall notify the Building and zoning codes administrator of the address of his place of business, the name under which such business is carried on and, in the event of a change give immediate notice to the administrator.
(h) Responsibility. Plumbing contractors shall conform to and obey all statutes, laws, ordinances, rules and regulations which have been or may hereafter be enacted or adopted governing plumbing installations.
(i) Bond.
(1) Such applicant shall file a bond in the sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000) with surety to the approval of the Mayor, the form of which shall be approved by the City Solicitor and conditioned that the applicant will save and keep the City harmless from all loss and damage that may arise from negligence or failure to comply with the provisions of the City Plumbing Code by such applicant or his agents and employees, in the event that such registration is granted.
(2) A registered plumbing contractor shall file and keep in force and effect a good and sufficient bond during each period of renewal of registration, as described in subsection (i)(1) hereof. (Ord. 26-19. Passed 5-6-19.)
