902.02 TYPE AND SIZE.
   (a)   In all new streets, curbs shall be the curb and gutter type with the cross section of the curb and gutter conforming to the following requirements:
      (1)   The gutter width shall be eighteen inches.
      (2)   The gutter shall slope upward from the face of the curb at a slope of one- half inch per one foot.
      (3)   The thickness of the gutter shall be a minimum of six inches.
      (4)   The height of the curb shall be six inches above the gutter.
      (5)   The width of the curb shall be six inches.
      (6)   The face of the curb shall be perpendicular to the street with a rounded top edge, and shall not slope.
      (7)   The back of the curb and gutter shall have a minimum height of twelve inches.
   (b)   In existing streets where the existing curbs are the straight type and with no gutter, new curbs may be the straight type conforming to the following requirements:
      (1)   The width of the curb shall be six inches.
      (2)   The face of the curb shall be perpendicular to the street with a rounded top edge, and shall not slope.
      (3)   The depth of the curb shall be eighteen inches.

   (c)   The Director of Public Service may allow an exception to the above requirements stated in subsections (a) and (b) where curbs are directly adjacent to sidewalks. In lieu of the curb or the curb and gutter being poured separately from the sidewalk, the Director of Public Service may allow the curb to be poured integrally with the sidewalk. If such is allowed, the construction shall conform to the following requirements.
      (1)   The face of the curb shall be perpendicular to the street with a rounded edge, shall have a depth of twelve inches and shall have its top eight inches finished.
      (2)   The bottom width of the curb shall be twelve inches before it slopes upward at a forty-five degree angle to the bottom of the walk slab.
      (3)   The top of the combined curb and sidewalk slab shall be scored six inches back from the face of the curb in order to simulate a six inch wide curb.
      (4)   The combined curb and sidewalk shall be reinforced with a 4 x 4/6 x 6 welded wire mesh. (Ord. 45-99. Passed 8-2-99.)
