3-1-1: BASE OR DATUM PLANE:

The base or datum plane to which shall be referred all grades and levels in the city is hereby fixed as an imaginary horizontal plane one hundred feet (100') below the northeast corner of the lowest doorstep in front of the B.H. Shaw Building at the corner of East 1st Street and Ottawa Avenue in the city. (1950 Code)
