(A) All commercial buildings, multi-family residential buildings with a shared hallway, or multi-family buildings of 12 units or more, shall provide a city-approved lock box and access keys at the owners' expense for emergencies and/or inspection. If new construction, the city-approved lock box shall be required prior to issuance of a certificate of occupancy.
(B) Owners will acquire the appropriate lock box as instructed by the city and will provide the appropriate security key(s) and installation.
(C) This section is not to be construed as a request or requirement for the owner of such property to place within the security box any master building or complex key. Owners of properties who choose to place master building or complex keys in the security box do so at their own risk.
(D) Private parties who wish to provide key access to emergency personnel through the use of a key lock box may do so with the understanding that providing this access in no way indicates any special right or privilege, and no contract is implied indicating additional service will be provided.
