§ 51.20 WATER METERS TO BE READ AND ACTIVE ACCOUNTS BILLED.
Water meters shall be read by a person or persons designated by the City Council for that purpose. The utility bill will be for a one month period starting with December as the first billing period of the year. If the meter reads no usage for any given month, the utility bill will reflect minimum and any set charges for that month. Effective August 25, 2009, there shall be no temporary discontinuance of service. An account may be put inactive with no monthly minimum or set charges only if the property is vacated (all personal belongings are removed from the premises) and the city is able to shut off the water service to the property. Reactivation of an inactive utility account (as satisfied in the previous sentence) will result in a customer being charged a two-week pro-rated bill for the month which services are reactivated. The City of Dilworth is not responsible for any damages that may arise from reactivating a water service.
